The Forgotten Member Of The Trinity

The Forgotten Member Of The Trinity

God is three Persons, but one God.
Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

The term “one” in Hebrew, is Echad (United One) Not Yachid (Mathematical One). One God, in three distinct Persons.

Matthew 28:18-19
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus clearly demands that His baptism is done, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is often referred to as the forgotten person of the Trinity. I read a story about a man who was injured in a serious accident. Among many bodily injuries he got a serious head wound and lost his memory. He got amnesia and forgot everything about his life. His name, his friends, even his family. He spent months in the hospital recovering. While there he was treated very well by the doctors and nurses. There was one nurse who spent extra time with him. At first, he only knew her as nurse, but he soon learned her name, then her schedule and then her personality. He grew to care for her. They would often spend time talking and laughing. One day, when she was visiting him, the man’s memory returned, and he suddenly recognized his nurse. He told her, “I remember you, you’re my wife!” They were overjoyed.

The Holy Spirit has always loved His people and faithfully cared for them. But in the Old Testament, they didn’t even know who He was. He was intimately connected to them, and they didn’t even recognize Him. It wasn’t until the New Testament that Jesus revealed the Holy Spirit, as a distinct person within the Trinity. And as the person of Godhead, who’s most intimately involved in our lives. And now we can recognize and connect with the Holy Spirit. It’s time for us to wake up and say, “We recognize You, You’re Our God!”

What is the Holy Spirit saying to you through these scriptures?
