The Connection Between Arrogance And Unforgiveness

The Connection Between Arrogance And Unforgiveness

Unforgiveness can weigh heavy on our souls, stunting our spiritual growth. Making us angry, and judgmental, and robbing us of our peace of mind.

Ephesians 4:31-32
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you.

Unforgiveness breeds bitterness, and hurtful and destructive emotions. God commands us to release these negative feelings and embrace kindness and forgiveness towards others, just as He has forgiven us through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Colossians 3:13
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Forgiveness involves making allowances for other people’s imperfections and brokenness. We need to choose to let go of the offenses they commit against us, and other people. We are told to extend the same forgiveness that we have received from our Lord. That means forgiving those who don’t deserve our forgiveness. If we don’t, we will become angry and bitter at people, and at God.

Isaiah 2:11-12
The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled and human pride brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted on that day. 12 The Lord Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted. They will be humbled.

When we think very highly of ourselves, we tend to look down on others and their weaknesses. We refuse to forgive others even though we want others to forgive us.
