Preparing For Victory

Preparing For Victory

Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

If we want to be able to fight the persistent temptations in our lives, we need to know what makes us vulnerable to Satan’s efforts.

Ephesians 4:27
Do not give the devil a foothold.

Let’s not give Satan a place in our lives to start leveraging our weaknesses and mess with our minds and emotions.

Satan tries to hook us, not with our behavior but with our thoughts. He plays with our emotions all the time. He is a master manipulator of our moods and feelings. Satan gets certain emotions stirring by influencing our thoughts and causing us to doubt God’s Word.

Our thoughts have a powerful impact on our emotions, feelings, and actions. Negative thoughts will not only affect our well-being, but also our spiritual growth and take away our joy.

Isaiah 26:3-4
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.

We are far more vulnerable to temptation when we’re experiencing negative emotions. Satan knows what they are and what buttons to push to cause anxiety and fear. Shouldn’t we know what they are, too?

What are some of the negative emotions that often leave you vulnerable?

2 Corinthians 10:5
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

What is the Holy Spirit saying to you through these scriptures?
