How does giving God control defuse anxiety and stress?
Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
If we want to make healthy decisions to be well and whole, we must humble ourselves and choose meekness. Now meek doesn’t mean weak, even though the two words sound similar.
Meekness and weakness are at opposite ends of the scale. In fact, the Greek word for meekness literally means, “strength under control.”
It’s used to describe a wild stallion that has a bit in its mouth. That stallion still has all the strength it had when it was wild, but now its strength is under control. It is harnessed strength.
God doesn’t want us to be weak, but he does want us to be meek. Meekness is one of the keys to stress reduction in your life.
Colossians 3:12-13
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
James 3:13
Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.
What are the benefits of meekness?
-The meek will be satisfied. (Psalm 22:26)
-God will guide them. (Psalm 25:9)
-They will become wise. (Proverbs 11:2)
-They will be filled with a new joy. (Isaiah 29:19)
And as we submit to God in meekness, we’ll become stronger.
