Can I lose my faith? This is the one the question I have been asked as a pastor, more than any other. It’s a good question.
1 John 5:13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
What if I commit a terrible sin? What if I struggle with my faith? It’s so discouraging to live without knowing where you stand with God. If you think your spouse has rejected you, are you drawn closer to them or do you feel isolated and empty?
Hebrews 10:22
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
God wants us to experience the full assurance of our faith, so we draw close to Him. You are loved by God. If you reach out in faith in Jesus, He won’t reject you later.
John 5:24
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
If we believe in Jesus as our Lord, we have eternal life. We have crossed over from death to life. If you’ve been born again, you’ve repented of your sin. You’re not trying to see how much you can get away with. When you are born again God’s nature is in you.
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Salvation means Christ lives in us. Greater is He who is in me, than he that is in the world. Remember, faith in Jesus is different than religion.
