Prayer has the potential to be something you look forward to every day. It’s where intimacy with the Lord can be experienced time and again. Do you struggle sometimes with how you should approach Him? Don’t overthink it. Be real with what you are thinking and feeling. Share what’s on your mind or what you’re anxious about. Sometimes I intentionally let scripture guide me as I open myself up for God to search me and tell me where I am missing out on His truth in my life. Humbly turn to Him and put your emotional weight on Him, He can take it.
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Prayer is a simple conversation with God. One of the most important parts of prayer is to approach it like you would in any conversation. Don’t spend all your time talking. The most important part of prayer is listening to the Holy Spirit for answers to your questions. Spend some time reading through 2 Chronicles 7:14 and humble yourself before the Lord ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart and mind and speak to you about what you need to hear. Then wait in prayer until you hear what He is saying to you through His powerful and inspired scriptures.
Psalm 17:6-8a
I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer. 7 Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes. 8 Keep me as the apple of your eye.
Prayer shows the reality of our dependence on God. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through His Word so we can pray with confidence and know that our prayers are effective.
