The Sermon On The Mount (Series)
Blessed: Hebrew “ashr”, meaning on the right path.
Example Psalm 1:1-2
Two paths are available.

2) Follows the wicked, the sinners and the mockers.
1) 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
There allegiance is not about real-estate but a relationship with God as His ambassadors on earth. (2 Cor. 5:20)
Where do you struggle with self dependance?
2) 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Here, “mourn” is about life in a fallen world separated from God.
Are you struggling with praying through your pain?
3) 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Meekness is not weakness, but power under control in willing submission to God
4) 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Everyone was created with a need that can only be filled by God. We can be whole in Christ.
5) 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
At the end of the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus told everyone, go and do likewise.
6) 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Only those who have surrendered themselves to Jesus are pure in heart.
7) 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Peacemakers reflect the Character of their Lord.
8) 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you & falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Suffering for righteousness is a blessing.
We are called to be salt and light. (Matthew 5:13-16)
