John 10:27-30
Locked In (Series)

John 10:27-30
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

The Lord has a loving and sacrificial relationship because He died for His sheep. He has a living relationship because He cares for His sheep. It is also a lasting relationship, because He keeps all His sheep and not one is lost.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

1) We have eternal life, and that life cannot be conditional and still be eternal.
2) This life is a gift, not something we earn.
3) Because we are saved by God’s grace, we cannot be saved by our own good works. Therefore, we cannot be lost, by our own bad deeds.

Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

There is a difference between true believers and counterfeits.
The key words, “I never knew you.”

2 Peter 2:22
22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”

The dog and the pig will go back into sin. Their sinful state will be revealed by Christ Jesus.
But the sheep, being a clean animal, will follow the Shepherd, into the green pastures.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

It’s not about what we say or do.
It’s about who we are in Christ.
