Heavenly Questions

Matthew 8:11
Good To Go (Series On End Times)

Who will we be in Heaven?

Luke 24:39
Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

Permanence of identity requires bodily resurrection.

Jesus calls people by name in heaven.
Matthew 8:11
I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

A name shows a clear and unique identity. You will be uniquely you in heaven.

Luke 15:10
In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

God and the angels rejoice over every single person.

We can’t understand who we will be in heaven, if we don’t understand why Jesus’ resurrection is so important.

1 Corinthians 15:17
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.

The physical resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of redemption for humanity and all of creation.

If we didn’t have bodies, we wouldn’t be resurrected.

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

If we don’t get the resurrection of the body right, it’s going to be hard to make sense of it all.

Genesis 2:7
Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Our true humanity is not just spirit, but spirit joined with body.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Becoming a new creation in Christ is radical transformation, but we’re still us.
