Cup Of Justice

Cup Of Justice

Jeremiah 25
Stand Your Post (Series On Jeremiah)

(Jeremiah 25:1-7)
All the people of Judah ignored God’s warnings.

Jeremiah 25:5
They said, “Turn now, each of you, from your evil ways and your evil practices, and you can stay in the land the Lord gave to you and your ancestors for ever and ever.

They could have stayed on their land.

(Jeremiah 25:8-11)
Why did God predict that the Babylonian Exile would last 70 years?

(Jeremiah 25:12-14)
After the 70 years were fulfilled, God would also punish the Babylonians.

God deals with all sin, not just some sins.

(Jeremiah 25:15-26)
Jeremiah had a vision of God holding a cup of wrath.

(Jeremiah 25:27-29)
The nations who drink from the cup of God’s wrath will fall.

(Jeremiah 25:30-33)
Switching to poetry, Jeremiah continued the theme of God’s judgment on the nations. Like a lion that would roar mightily before pouncing on his prey, God will shout from heaven, before He slams His mighty gavel of justice.

(Jeremiah 7:34-38)
The leaders of these many nations, pictured as shepherds, would weep and wail and roll in the dust.

This is a sign of deep grief or mourning. All of this destruction could have been avoided.

James 1:21-22
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

There are many blessing that come from living out God’s truth.
