In Matters Of The Heart

Ephesians 6:14b
Overcoming Strongholds (Series)

Ephesians 6:11
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Be ready for the battle.

Ephesians 6:14b
with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

The breastplate of righteousness represents Jesus’ righteousness.

Ephesians 4:24
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

The breastplate of righteousness represents the believer’s righteousness.

2 Corinthians 6:3–6
We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; 5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love.

Our positional righteousness in Christ, without a practical righteousness in our daily life, gives Satan an opportunity to attack us.

Ephesians 6:14b ESV
and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

We keep putting on the breastplate of righteousness.

The breastplate guards the heart.

Romans 7:19
For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.

We don’t need to be better, we need to love better.
