Colossians 1:13-14
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Tim Ballard is a federal agent who tracked down and arrested pedophiles for many years. He had been so frustrated by the inability to stop child pornography because of the red tape that seemed to protect the pedophiles more than the children. The system was broken and something needed to be done. Tim quit his job and decided to go after the traffickers who steal children and sell them to the highest bidder or ask for a large ransom to be paid if they ever want to go home.
In 2013 Tim rescued a boy from a ruthless trafficking ring as they were trying to sell him. Tim learned that the boy’s sister was still being held captive deep in the Colombian jungle. Tim put his life on the line to free this young girl from a fate worse than death.
When he got her back home, he was asked why he did it. Tim responded, God’s children aren’t for sale. Around the world children are being stolen and forced into sex trafficking or being put up for ransom. Tim was part of the solution through sacrifice. What would you do if it was your child? How much would you sacrifice? Jesus paid the ultimate price for His children. We were held captive by sin with no way to escape. Jesus died on the cross to redeem us from our sin. Redemption is a powerful thing to experience.
1 Timothy 2:5-6
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
What’s God saying to you about redemption through the scriptures?
